Calgary Artist Jane Hinsz

My journey as an artist really began as I was nestled in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina. It was here in the stillness, my heart was given a new appreciation for the beauty of Gods creation. As I breathed in the air, my eyes were opened to see color in a new way, experience sounds, and feel this deep connection to Mother Nature, as me and my husband hiked and enjoyed the wildlife we encountered.

After residing in Calgary, Alberta, it was in January of 2016 I decided to pick up a paint brush. I was always known as the musical one in the family and my siblings were the ones who could draw, but one night I had a dream of a large artist paint brush. It was then this great passion within me continued to grow, so I explored the arts of mixed media, primarily in oils and acrylics through highly accredited instructors in class and through various workshops. The need to create has always been evident in my life whether it has been in my art, music, business, or home. Creativity has always been my happy place. As an evolving artist, I love painting nature, animals and people as it connects with those inner emotions of my soul, and transfers over into realistic, abstract art through the use of a paint brush or palette knife. Feeling the depth of texture you can create with different palette knives and brushes always excites me, as it brings new expression within your piece of art. I love watching how the array of colors and movements of a paint brush merge together to create this energy, joy and emotion that draws one in. Visually, emotionally, creating one’s own story to be told. As they say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". My desire as an artist is to inspire, touch lives and bring joy as I share with you my inspirations, life moments, through the beautiful gift of art.

I was juried into the Calgary Sketch Club and am currently an active member. My art has been on display at various art shows. I have also had the joy of doing Commissions for family and friends.
